Bondage basics

In a sexual relationship, there are two levels of bondage. One is being physically bound or tied up. This is a fun activity to do if you want to mix things up with your partner. The feeling of complete vulnerability and being at the mercy of your partner can be quite exhilarating. It’s the perfect sexual exercise if you want to explore something more adventurous or would like to push the boundaries of trust between the two of you.

Then, there’s the second level, which is closer to BDSM. A huge part of this role-playing act is bondage. The initials stand for three sets of acronyms:  bondage and discipline, dominance and submission, sadism and masochism. This is a sexual practice that uses pain and power to create sexual tension and pleasure. It involves a deeper form of role-playing which entails both the physical and mental aspect of the game.

In both cases, the use of ropes and tools are required, sometimes sex toys and other elaborate devices also come into play. Bondage should be done voluntarily. In most cases, the submissive partner is either tied up, cuffed or hogtied even blindfolded and gagged.

There are a number of ways to play out bondage scenes .Once the submissive partner is tied, the dominant partner can use a whip or a just his/her hands for spanking. The mild physical pain can be pleasurable if used in moderation. It can also be used as foreplay where the dominant partner sexually tickles and teases the bound partner. Sexual stimulation can come in the form of masturbation, oral sex or direct intercourse.

Do remember, if you’re trying bondage for the first time with your partner, have a “safe” word. When your partner shouts out this word, it means he or she has had enough or is in real pain or may be uncomfortable with what’s happening. If the safe word is uttered, it’s time to stop. Use bondage as  fun sexual activity that can lead to a stronger relationship but make sure that you do keep things balanced and well-moderated.
